A Little Peek into the Future - I!
Well, its election time! And my blog after a long time also has to be about elections. Let's try to peek into the future and see the three major things we'll get if a congress-led goverment comes to power.
1. Unlimited does of "Secularism" - of course we don't mean well being of everyone by that term, we only mean that our government will be for the Minorities (with a capital M), Poor, Downtrodden, Dalits, Women and Marginalized sections of the society. Well, you see, its not secularism if you just say, "Our government will be for all citizens of the country - We don't see if they are majority or minority" - you become communal then (don't ask me how!) The even more funny thing about this is, you can repeat this statement after say 10 years as well. Because, the congress has been in power for most of the 60 years in our independence and this i-am-backward-poor-minority-downtrodden list is only expanding, not contracting! So, that is what unlimited doses of secularism ensures - that this list grows; this is recession insulated growth by the way!
2. Put good money after bad - imagine you have a leaky pipe in your house; imagine that because of this leaky pipe, you lose quite some water and face shortage. What will you do? Fix the pipe, right? wrong! Here's what you'll do if you are a Congress-led government - you'll spend lots of money and empty your savings in buying lots of water so that you don't face shortage! But what about the wastage you ask? Shhhhhh! Don't ask that out aloud, you run the danger of being branded anti-poor then! No prices for guessing what I am talking about here - the well meaning, but unwieldy, leaky and inefficient schemes of Congress like NREGA. Congress doesn't like to really fix the pipe - the unwieldy bueaureaucracy and the delivery system they oversee - because will you be pro-poor and pro-backward if there is no poor and no one is backward?
3. Talk, Talk and Talk - Terror strikes? "We'll not condone this; We'll not let the terrorists win". Tell me one terror strike after which you haven't heard this or some silly variation of this? And even in Mumbai the credit goes to our NSG commandos for managing to capture Kasab alive, without which nothing could have happened in its investigation. And has the legal system been enhanced to ensure speedy trial and prosecution for terrorists so that the other remaining ones get the message? Shhhhh! It will be perceived as anti-minority, so don't do it! But what will we do about it - Talk! Have our local and national security forces been given mordern weapons, ammunition and infrastructure? Well, we have said we'll do it, didn't we? What about healthcare? Do we have more hospitals and doctors now in villages? Well, you see, our minister was busy fighting with AIIMS director and banning cigarettes, he didn't have much time for it! So, what did we do about it? Well, we have said we'll do it, didn't we?
Well, so much for Congress! Next, we'll see what masterpiece of a government we'll get if we get - god forbid - a third front government! Do drop in your comments!

Congress will continue to swindle the country if they are victorious. First of all they have not fulfilled their promise of helping the aam aadmi in the last five years. Instead they have helped themselves. It would be better if they do not come to power. A third front govt will also be a disaster. There wont be stability.
